About Us - Dr. Hasmukh Adhia

Dr. Hasmukh Adhia is an officer of Indian Administrative Service, who retired on 30th November, 2018 as Union Finance Secretary & Revenue Secretary in Government of India. He is the Non-Executive Chairman of Bank of Baroda, Chancellor of Central University of Gujarat, Non-executive chairman of GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec) City, Non-executive Chairman of the Vadodara based Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) and theNon-executive Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC). Dr.Adhia is also the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Vice Chairman of the board at the School of Ultimate Leadership.

He is also a member of Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Pandit Deendayal Energy University and Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI).

Dr. Adhia has a post-Graduate degree in Accountancy. He is a goldmedallist from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and holds a Ph.D. in Yoga from Swami Vivekanand Yoga University, Bangalore.

As Finance and Revenue Secretary, he was credited with the successful implementation of GST in India.On his superannuation in November 2018, Late Shri Arun Jaitley, the then Finance Minister of India praised Dr.Adhia’s contribution in a Facebook post. He said “Dr. Adhia was unquestionably a highly competent, disciplined, no-nonsense civil servant and of course, with impeccable integrity.”
